Nicotinic acid metabolism. II. The isolation and characterization of intermediates in the fermentation of nicotinic acid.

چکیده
6-Hydroxynicotinic acid was demonstrated to be the first intermediate in the degradation of nicotinic acid by a clostridium. In the presence of pyruvate, other intermediates accumulated; two of these were identified, one as 1,4,5,6tetrahydro-6-oxonicotinic acid, and the other as a!-methyleneglutaric acid. The pathways for nicotinic acid degradation may be considered as involving successive oxidative and reductive steps to 1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-6-oxonicotinic acid, then through some unidentified steps to a-methyleneglutaric acid, which is subsequently converted to propionic and acetic acids and carbon dioxide. Pyruvate and lactate were shown not to be obligatory intermediates in the production of propionate. This microorganism has a high content of Blz coenzyme, but its function in nicotinic acid fermentation is not yet understood.

Background: Some health-protecting secondary metabolites can be found at a higher concentration in the sprouts compared to other stages of plant growth. In addition, environmental stresses such as salt stress may be resulting in the increase or decrease of specific secondary metabolites in sprouts and plants. Objective: Evaluation the changes of trigonelline, nicotinic acid, and proline cont...
متن کاملDetermination of Nicotinic Acid by Square Wave Voltammetry on a Carbon Paste Electrode: the Crucial Effect of Electrode Composition and Analytical Conditions
The foregone studies have shown that nicotinic acid cannot produce noticeable reductive signal at carbon-based electrodes without appropriate modification of the electrode. This is an obvious reason that mercury is known as the main electrode material for electro-reduction of nicotinic acid. In this study, it has been shown that it is possible to create a remarkable reduction signal for NA at a...
